Microsoft already working on the Surface 2 tablet
Microsoft is clearly anticipating their soon-to-be-released super tablet will be a hit
Microsoft is taking a huge gamble with its new Surface super tablet that comes out later this fall. After all, its staking the future of its company (not to mention its relationship with Windows hardware manufacturers) on a roll of the dice. Microsoft Corporate VP Frank X. Shaw recently called the Surface not a tablet, but "our new family of PCs built to be the ultimate stage for Windows," suggesting more are on the way. But perhaps more telling: Microsoft is actively hiring, with jobs posting stating that the company is "currently building the next generation and Surface needs you!"
What kind of features will the next Surface have? The job postings are telling. Microsoft is looking for a materials engineer capable of working with "new materials including metals, ceramics, plastics and thin films." Microsoft is also seeking an expert in "alternative power sources" and an engineer familiar with "passive and active cooling thermal designs." We can only guess what all these add up to?? perhaps a lighter, cooler-to-the-touch tablet with an extraordinarily long battery life?
